The atmospheric pressure has a high impact over a variety of mechanisms we are living with every day. The most obvious one is related to the weather which can be easily characterized by the pressure, the temperature and the humidity factors.

The native application field of an air pressure sensor is for the aerospace industry where it is used to determine the altitude or to control an airplane's flight deck pressure. More surprising applications include Anti-G suits or emergency parachute opening systems.

But pressure is also related to liquids, like blood or water. Thus pressure sensors are often used in blood pressure monitoring devices or medicament dosing systems. Water level measurement systems use the liquid's weight (i.e. pressure) to determine height. Small appliances can be created that measure tank's fuel level or diving depth.
