As explained in the application note an501.pdf, the atmospheric pressure change can easily be used for weather forecast. For example by determining the speed of the pressure change we can determine if sunny weather or thunderstorm is arriving. More accurate model might even determine if rain is coming or if the sky will only be overcast without rain. The MS5534/MS5540 product from Intersema are the ideal choice to develop weather stations, barometers and all applications related to the measurement of the atmospheric pressure. Thanks to their digital interface, they can be directly connected to any microcontroller. The internally stored compensation coefficients, increase dramatically the resolution of the device, thus allowing high-precision appliances. ![]() The MS5534/MS5540 have a resolution of 0.1 mbar. Typical pressure changes are in the range of +/- 20 mbar. When major weather pertubations take place, changes of +/- 50 mbar can be observed. Thanks to their high resolution, and to its wide operating range (10 mbar to 1100 mbar) the MS5534/MS5540 are ideal for barometer developments. For more details, follow these links: MS5534/MS5540. You can also check the application note related to the development of Altimeters and Barometers with MS5534 or MS5540 (see an501.pdf). ![]() Printable version
